I’m based in Sheffield and earn my living from playing and teaching the bagpipes. I generally have to travel to make this work and at the same time keep my traveling expenses down. The areas I cover include Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Cheshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Staffordshire, East Riding, Humberside, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and the West Midlands. There’s a lot of bad players around posing as professionals that charge very little but bagpipes played badly can ruin any event.
