I had a fantastic time piping at Eureka (The National Children’s Science) museum in Halifax, West Yorkshire. I was asked to play the bagpipes for 15 minute sessions at certain points throughout the day. Saturday was fairly quiet due to the heavy snowfall the night before but Sunday was much busier. I had a lot of children gathering around mesmerized by the pipes and dancing along to my tunes. Some had the opportunity to have their photos taken with me and were able to ask questions about the pipes and how they worked. Euereka has got to be one of the best museums I’ve seen for children and it’s a great way to spark their interests in science. I hope to play there again next year should they host another Burns weekend.
